FAQ

Q: So do I need to purchase an individual membership for everyone in my household?

A: No. Our member tiers are designed to be individual memberships. The different levels do allow for the primary member to include up to 3 adults within their membership (presumably a spouse, but can be friends of course). Folks above the age of 21 should register. Your children under 12 are included in your membership at no additional charge. Since 2023, we offer a “youngster pass” as an add-on for our members to include their houshold teenagers (13yrs-20yrs) for just $50 a season.

Q: Do we have to be a member to come to the tailgate?

A: Yes and No. If you’re a regular, we’d hope that you can commit to an annual membership. If you’re a visitor simply passing through for a particular game, then you can simply pre-buy a “Friend membership” for $50. Friend memberships are temporary one game passes. If you’re a newbie on scene or just unsure, you can stop by the tailgate introduce yourself, and we can set you up onsite.

Q: Can I invite my friends/ guests to the tailgate?

A: Yes! Again, we ask that they purchase a “Friend” membership. All annual members can invite their friends and guests to pre-buy these single game memberships using their unique discount code and we’ll wristband them at your level for that tailgate.

Q: Are my +1/ +2/ +3 adult bands as a First Team/ Coaches Circle/ Owner’s Club member transferrable?

A: From game to game within a season, yes. If for some reason you will not be attending with your crew, please inform them to annouce themselves as your guests.

Q: Is there a limit to the number of members?

A: Yes, we do try to manage number of wristband in circulation (members) for a given event. Again, we’d like to keep the organization sustainable and develop into a closer longhorn family. This will likely result in us putting a cap on memberships for big games.

Q: I’m here to help!! What can I do or what can I bring?  Who do I need to talk to find out what is needed?

A:   Awesome!  We need all the help we can get, especially during tear down time, after the game is over and everyone has left.   Talk to one of the officers during the tailgate and let us know what you’re thinking.   Megan and Mike (Operations)  Frank and Nelson (Food). We do offer “volunteer membership bands” to those who commit to helping out the majority of games.

Q: Great! So now that I’ve paid my member dues, I guess I’m good for the year on the tip jar?

A: Up to you. The whole operation still relies on a handful of individuals who put in some serious work to make it all happen. Tip and Donations to the tailgate are still highly appreciated during the events as a token of gratitude. Hopefully, as a Friend who paid $50 or a $180 UT Tailgater member who comes to all the games, you’ll find that the atmosphere, food, beverages, and camaraderie at our tailgates feels like an awesom value…..

Q: I usually bring food, desserts, or drinks to contribute to the tailgate.  Can this count towards my membership fee?  Should I still bring my homemade treats?

A: By all means, please bring those treats, make a meat donation, or bring your favorite beverage.  We still greatly appreciate these contributions, and some people count on those sweet treats!  As far as having these food/ beverage donations count towards membership, we can have some flexibility, with officer’s approval, to apply tangible donations like this towards dues.  However, we strongly encourage you to at least register at a friend level, so you are in the directory, and we can upgrade you to an annual full membership level.
